Peaks and Dales Railway registers with the Department for Transport ‘Ideas Fund’
28th February 2020
Peaks and Dales Railway has submitted its registration form to apply to the Department for Transport’s Restoring Your Railway ‘Ideas Fund’.
The team at Peaks and Dales Railway worked in collaboration with Manchester and East Midlands Rail Action Partnership (MEMRAP) and The Goodshelter Group to submit its registration form on-time, and secured the support of two local MPs as sponsors for its application to the Ideas Fund - Robert Largan MP and Nigel Mills MP.
Peaks and Dales Railway is now putting the finishing touches to its business case which is due to be submitted by 16th March 2020.
If the application is successful, Peaks and Dales Railway would begin work on the Strategic Outline Business Case required to secure the Transport and Works Act Order. This process, if successful, would enable work to begin on the upgrade and reinstatement of the Peaks and Dales Railway, running between Ambergate and Chinley - the former Midland Mainline during the first half of the 20th Century.
